The Chicago White Sox are about to begin a really important week. They have the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs over the next five games and those are both teams that they should be able to beat. After a big series win over the New York Yankees, keeping the momentum going is important.
The White Sox are 21-20. That is not the record that they wanted to have after 41 games but it is what it is. It could also be much worse based on the way that they have played at times and based on some of their injury luck. We can only hope that some of these updates will bring relief soon.
The worst part of it is that Luis Robert is on the COVID-19 injured list. That came straight from the White Sox Twitter account. He is experiencing mild symptoms and Jake Burger has been called up in his place on the roster. He could play vs the Cubs but it is more likely that we see him back next week.
Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. Boston, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Luis Robert on the COVID-19 related injured list and recalled infielder Jake Burger from Class AAA Charlotte.

The Chicago White Sox provided everyone with updates on Tuesday afternoon.
There were also some updates on the pitching rotation. Dylan Cease, Lucas Giolito, and Dallas Keuchel will get the call against the Red Sox. It should be noted that Vince Velasquez was removed from his spot in the rotation and Keuchel was moved up. Right or wrong, the salary difference between each guy probably plays a part in that because it certainly isn’t performance-based.
You might notice that Micahel Kopech’s name isn’t found in that plan. That is because the White Sox are giving him some extra rest in between starts because they like what extra rest did for him in between his last two starts as he dominated the Yankees. We will see him on the mound next week.
I don't mean Kopech on Sunday! Sox are going to give him some extra rest after seeing positive effects of such a plan in his gem vs. Yanks. This has worked well for other Sox pitchers, too. Remember back to last year with Carlos Rodón. https://t.co/ZGCP7uQKFR

Lance Lynn hasn’t pitched yet this regular season thanks to some spring training knee surgery. He was seen throwing live batting practice to Gavin Sheets, Adam Engel, and Eloy Jimenez today which should be a good sign. He is on the 60-day IL so isn’t eligible to come back until June 6th.
Speaking of Jimenez, he is supposed to go for a rehab assignment along with Lynn at the end of the weekend. Getting these two back is going to really help them in different areas which will be very much welcomed.
Lance Lynn currently throwing live batting practice to the likes of Gavin Sheets, Adam Engel and fellow IL resident Eloy Jiménez. The next step in his comeback from preseason knee surgery. Lynn is eligible to return from IL on June 6.

Rick Hahn said both Lance Lynn and Eloy Jiménez should start rehab assignments by the end of the weekend. Luis Robert expected to miss the next week of games: a three-game series against the Red Sox and a two-game set against the Cubs.

This is going to be a big week for the White Sox. As mentioned before, they are facing two teams that they are better than but they need to bring their best in order to beat them. We are also seeing them get healthier and healthier which is a good sign of things to come. Hopefully, the rest of the summer continues bringing mostly good news to the White Sox.
