Leury Garcia really should not be on the Chicago White Sox roster anymore.

Leury Garcia is the longest-tenured player on the Chicago White Sox. That should honestly tell you everything that you need to know about him. He survived some pretty bad years with this team and that is not a compliment.

They traded away almost every good player besides Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson to get assets and Garcia just hung around. He wasn’t good enough for them to get anything of value for him so he stuck around. The fact that he is still on the team is ridiculous.

He has certainly had some clutch moments. There have been walk-off home runs, big hits, and even a huge playoff moment. However, that is not enough of an excuse to keep using this guy as much as they do.

It wouldn’t be so bad if he was used as a 26th man. That is the perfect role for him on an elite team. Unfortunately, the White Sox use him way too much. Then when it makes sense to use him, as it was on Tuesday, he is on the bench.

The White Sox need to cut bait so that Tony La Russa has one less mediocre player to mismanage. They are unlikely to do it but he absolutely deserves the Dallas Keuchel treatment and all of his statistics would suggest it.
