The Chicago White Sox didn’t get much from Nomar Mazara. They thought that bringing him in for the 2020 season would work out well as he has proven to be a multiple-time 20 home run hitter. It didn’t work out well and he didn’t make it beyond 2020 with the club.

Since then, he has played with other teams before finding himself with the San Diego Padres organization in 2022. He has been in AAA this year and did a really good job with that assignment.

Things didn’t work out with the White Sox but he deserves respect for going to AAA and quietly dominating. He is slashing .367/.454/.641 for an OPS of 1.095.

As you probably know, the New York Mets made the shocking move to DFA Robinson Cano earlier this year. Their owner is very into winning and will spend whatever kind of money he needs to in order to win (must be nice).

Cano quickly latched on with the San Diego Padres after being let go by the Mets. It did not go well for him on the west coast either. He slashed .094/.121/.094 in 11 games. At 39 years old, it is clear that he is done.

Fansided’s Robert Murray was first to report the chatter that Cano is being cut by the San Diego Padres. He also reported a day later that Mazara was going to be called up to the Padres to replace him.

The White Sox didn’t get much out of Nomar Mazara but San Diego might.

This is a very smart move for the Padres as he might be able to provide some really nice depth. The Padres seem to enjoy players that used to be in the White Sox organization along with taking guys that the White Sox really wanted. Here in 2022, they are a legit threat in the National League.

Robinson Cano is one of the best players to suit up in the last 20 years. Unfortunately, it seems like he isn’t good enough to be an MLB player anymore. It happens to everyone at different times. Mazara, on the other hand, deserves this opportunity.

He didn’t succeed with the White Sox and that sent his career in a downward spiral so it is nice to see him picking it back up. It is fair to root for him to have success at this point just because he seems like a good dude.
