It has finally arrived. It is Lance Lynn day as the Chicago White Sox prepares to take on the Detroit Tigers. This will be a big series for the White Sox as they need to win almost every game in it. You would think that getting someone like Lynn back can really help this team.

When Lynn first got hurt in spring training, it was obvious that he would be missed. However, he definitely didn’t expect to come back to a 27-31 squad that is six games out of first place. There is a lot of baseball left this season and Lynn is here to help.

Lynn wasn’t just great in 2021. He was one of the very best pitchers in the American League. He came in third place for the American League Cy Young Award. He dominated all season long and helped the Sox win many games.

He was an All-Star as well as his Cy Young third-place finish which tells you everything you need to know about how good he was. He had his struggles against the Houston Astros in the postseason but everyone on the White Sox did. They were simply the inferior team.

The Chicago WhiteSox certainly miss what Lance Lynn can bring to their team.

Lynn creates a lot of his outs using his fastball. He throws it frequently and just dares people to hit it. Most of the time, opponents are unable to do much damage with his stuff. It might take a few starts to get it fully back but this will be a lift.

He also provides a different attitude to the clubhouse. He is a competitor and doesn’t take losing lightly. He freaks out whenever he gets a big strikeout as well which explains how much this man cares about doing his job well. He has for most of his career.

Lance Lynn also provides a tremendous amount of leadership. He is one of the few players on the roster that has won the World Series before. In fact, he did it with Tony La Russa and the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011. He is also a bit older than everyone else so he commands respect.

This rotation has a chance to be dominant with Lynn. Assuming Michael Kopech is healthy, Lynn, Kopech, Lucas Giolito, Dylan Cease, and Johnny Cueto figure to be the big five. There are also some other really good pitchers there that can help. Hopefully, this is the move that sparks the White Sox enough to go on a long winning streak.
