The Chicago White Sox are a team that has underperformed so far this season. However, after sweeping the Detroit Tigers this week, they are now 30-31. That is not the record that they wanted after 61 games but they are in a better spot than a lot of teams in MLB.

There are a lot of ways for the team to really get hot. Part of it is playing the best players that are available to the team. Putting your best foot forward is important. In order for that to happen in 2022, there are some guys that might have to go.

This team has the potential to come back and win the division but they need to start winning a lot. When certain players come back from injury, only the best ones should stay. These are the three players that could be gone by the All-Star Break as a result:

Josh Harrison. 5. player. 128. . 2B. Chicago White Sox

Josh Harrison has no business playing on the Chicago White Sox anymore.

Josh Harrison was signed as a last effort for the Chicago White Sox to fix their big hole at second base. He has not worked out well and he doesn’t even play close to every day anymore. There is no reason for him to be on the roster once they are healthy and he for sure won’t play in AAA.

Since Tim Anderson got hurt, Danny Mendick has taken over for him at shortstop. Not only does he play the infield really well, but he has also started to become a really good hitter. That was his big problem before but that is correcting itself.

When Anderson returns next week, Mendick should be the guy that plays second base instead of going back to AAA. That leaves less room for Harrison on the roster which means that he could be gone sooner than later.

Chicago White Sox. Jimmy Lambert. 58. player. 128. . P

Jimmy Lambert should not be on the Chicago White Sox roster by the ASB.

Jimmy Lambert will probably not be with the Chicago White Sox by the All-Star Break. Once everyone is back from the Injured List, there will be no room for him on the 26-man roster. He will be one of the first to go as even one or two guys get healthy.

To be perfectly fair, Lambert has taken a small step this season. He isn’t as abysmal as he’s been in years past. Ethan Katz seems to have figured something out with him that doesn’t make him the worst pitcher of all time.

However, he is not a guy you want pitching on a regular basis if believe that you can win a division title or anything beyond that. He might develop into a regular MLB pitcher someday but that time is not now. It is fair to root for him to make it but he has a long way to go.

There are plenty of better options right now. Joe Kelly just came back but Aaron Bummer and Liam Hendriks just hit the IL. Neither of them figures to be out for too long so we may have to deal with Lambert until then but it won’t last. This staff is too good and too deep to need him.

128. . C. Chicago White Sox. Seby Zavala. 44. player

Seby Zavala will go if Yasmani Grandal is healthy for the Chicago White Sox.

The Chicago White Sox paid Yasmani Grandal a lot of money. He has lived up to it for the most part with the exception of this season. He was brutal at the plate until right before he was injured last week. Now, he is on the IL and hoping to stay hot when he comes back.

When he hit the Injured List, the White Sox purchased the contract of Seby Zavala and cut Yermin Mercedes. He is not up in Major League Baseball and will be until Grandal comes back. You had to figure he would make his way up at some point in 2022 after how 2021 went.

Zavala is the clear backup behind Resse McGuire but he will get in a few games every now and then. He will certainly end up in fewer games than he had in 2021 as McGuire is significantly better so there isn’t much competition for Grandal’s backup.

The White Sox might have him waiting in the wings in case there is another injury or they make the playoffs but there is little doubt that he will be gone by the All-Star break (as long as Yasmani Grandal returns healthy).

The White Sox will be hoping that sending these guys down, trading them, or designating them for assignment can help them take another step towards winning the whole thing. It would also mean that they are getting healthier which is also important. It is a shame to see some people go but the betterment of the team should always be number one.
