Lenyn Sosa’s has his first career Major League hit on Sunday

Before Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, the Chicago White Sox made a couple of big roster moves. One of them was to call up Lenyn Sosa to the Major League club. He came straight from AA without ever seeing a single pitch in AAA ball.

Sosa earned that call-up as he was absolutely crushing the ball in AA. For some odd reason, however, Tony La Russa decided not to start him in game one of the series in favor of Josh Harrison.

Unfortunately, the injury bug made Harrison the next victim as he was hurt on a bean ball that hit his back elbow (it was one of the craziest things you will ever see). Later in the inning, Sosa came in to play second base as his injury replacement.

Sosa had two plate appearances from there. In the first one of his career, he struck out. In the second one, he walked to reach base in Major League Baseball for the first time ever. His first hit would have to wait.

Once again on Friday, Tony La Russa didn’t start Sosa. He went in favor of Leury Garcia who has a negative WAR, a batting average below .200, and a mediocre defensive glove. Of course, Garcia went 0-3 and contributed almost nothing to the win.

Garcia made his White Sox starting lineup debut on Saturday. Tim Anderson had the day off so he was the leadoff man while playing second base. He reached base on an error and drew a walk. He came around to score in the inning where he reached on an error but his first official hit had to wait for another day.
The Chicago White Sox would love to see Lenyn Sosa have success in MLB.

On Sunday, Lenyn Sosa was the nine hitter for the White Sox. In his first at bat of the game, he hit a ball down the right field line for a double. His first career hit came leading off the bottom of the 3rd. Tim Anderson moved him to third via a sacrifice fly.
Sosa then came in to score thanks to a sacrifice by Andrew Vaughn.
It is so good to see that he finally has this milestone in the books. Now, he can focus on becoming a full time MLB player. The future is bright for him.
