The Chicago White Sox activated Yoan Moncada from the Injured List on Tuesday afternoon as he is coming back from his hamstring issue. He was just getting hot before he got hurt which made it extra unfortunate timing. It is even worse when you think about the White Sox so far this year.

Moncada needs to come back and play to his full potential. We have seen him hit like a superstar in the past but he has been horrible so far this season until he was hot right before his injury. They need the good version of him back to help them turn this season around.

It won’t be easy for him to get back to what he was in 2019 anytime soon but he could be as good as he was in 2021 which was a four-win player. That would be lovely as it would make the whole White Sox lineup look so much better if he was doing his part.

Unfortunately, the White Sox sent down Lenyn Sosa to make room for Moncada on the roster. That feels like the wrong decision as it is likely one that comes from the brain of Tony La Russa. He loves himself some Leury Garcia so he would rather use him at second base than the kid.

The Chicago White Sox have reinstated Yoan Moncada from the Injured List.

Adam Haseley would be been the smart player to send down for Moncada but the White Sox don’t really do smart things. Some people might bring up positions (Haseley is an outfielder and Moncada is an infielder) but they use first basemen in the outfield daily.

This roster has had a lot of problems so far this year but getting Moncada back has the potential to help as long as he is the good version of himself. On offense, he has the ability to make a difference but we don’t see it as often as we’d like.

On defense, he will make them so much better. Jake Burger will be allowed to focus on hitting more again as Moncada is a significantly better third baseman. He is the face of the rebuild and has a lot of tools so it would be really nice to see him start showing why he was so highly touted.
