Dylan Cease earns an incredible monthly honor for June
The Chicago White Sox are a team loaded with talent but they haven’t gotten the most out of it so far this season. However, Dylan Cease is one of the few players on the team who has been on point for most of the season. There have been a couple of tough starts but he has been mostly amazing.
Before his start on Saturday afternoon, Cease found out that he was the American League’s Pitcher of the Month for June. That is an incredible accomplishment when you think about how good the pitching in the American League is.
He won the award on the back of his incredible June where he made five starts. In those five starts, he went 2-1 with a 0.33 ERA, 45 strikeouts, and a 1.92 opponent batting average. Those are pretty incredible statistics for him.
The White Sox have an admirable rotation around him and the rest of them can learn a thing or two from what Cease has done so far this season. If Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, Michael Kopech, and Johnny Cueto can all reach their potential this year like Cease, the White Sox will come out of their funk.
Dylan Cease should be proud of being named as the AL Pitcher of the Month.
The winner of the award in the National League is Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins who had some incredible statistics as well. With all of the good pitching in the league right now, it is really cool to see White Sox pitchers be honored like this.
As mentioned before, the White Sox needed Cease to be this good. If he wasn’t, the White Sox wouldn’t have somewhat kept within striking distance of the division. They need him to keep this going for the rest of the season.
This season could be a season where Cease finds himself being honored in other ways. He very well could be on the American League All-Star team. He also could be in consideration for the AL Cy Young by the end of the season if he keeps this up as well. It has been a lot of fun so far this season for him and the White Sox are lucky to have him.
