The Chicago White Sox have been playing much better baseball lately. Coming into Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Twins (the third of a four-game series), they had won four games in a row. That all of the sudden has them back on track with first place in their sights.
Unfortunately, they hit a bump in the road on Saturday with Lance Lynn on the mound. Lynn was okay when he first came off the Injured List (he made his season debut two months into the season) but has struggled hard since.
Saturday was the latest example of things not going well for him. Minnesota’s lineup is very good so anyone can struggle at any time against them but Lynn just isn’t himself right now. Luis Arraez hit a home run in the first at-bat of the game and Minnesota didn’t look back.
Lynn gave up six runs n seven hits. He didn’t walk anybody which is nice and had six strikeouts but the one bad five-run inning ruined the game. The rest of the bullpen came in and shut it down so those six runs yielded by Lynn stood up as the only six allowed.
The Chicago White Sox needs to see Lance Lynn get back to being his normal self.
The offense tried to get it close but they would lose 6-3. It is unclear what happened to Lance Lynn or if something is wrong with him in terms of health. He seems to be throwing the ball comfortably but he just isn’t getting it done lately.
The guy who came in third place for the American League Cy Young in 2021 is the worst starter on the staff right now. He needed the All-Star break to come around badly and it is now here. He can use this time to try and get himself back on track.
The rest of the rotation has mostly been nails. The best of them all, Dylan Cease, is going to face these Minnesota Twins. It is obviously one of the biggest games that the White Sox will play this season.
If they win, they will go into the All-Star break at .500 with a three-game deficit in the AL Central Division. That is amazing considering where they were a month ago when it seemed like they had no chance. If Lynn can get it back together, they are going to win a lot down the stretch.
