The Chicago White Sox came into their series finale with the Kansas City Royals with a series tied at 1. The rubber match promised to be a good one that would be featured on Youtube. The White Sox needed this win if they want to keep their small postseason hopes alive.

With Johnny Cueto on the mound, the White Sox have had a lot of success this season. However, one of his rare bad starts came in his most recent outing against the Arizonoa Diamondbacks. He needed a big-time bounce-back effort and that is what he gave.

Cueto went for 5.1 innings where he only gave up one run. It wasn’t his 7 or 8-inning special but it was good enough to get the job done. He gave up six hits in this one but nothing turned into runs outside of the one. He had five strikeouts and no walks.

The bullpen did amazing from there. They allowed just two hits and one walks as no more runs crossed the plate. The players used were Reynaldo Lopez, Kendall Graveman, Jake Diekman, Jimmy Lambert, and Matt Foster. They all combined for six strikeouts which gave the White Sox a total of 11.

The Chicago White Sox needed help from everyone to get the win on Thursday.

Seven White Sox runs were scored to give them a 7-1 victory for the day and the series. They had 11 hits in the win which is really nice for them. Gavin Sheets and Eloy Jimenez have been the two hottest hitters on the team over the last month and they are the only two that didn’t have a hit.

Andrew Vaughn had an especially good game as he had two hits (one was a home run), two RBI, and one run scored. He is now the team leader in home runs as he is proving that he is going to be a game breaker in short order.

For the second straight game, AJ Pollock hit an opposite-field home run for the White Sox. It was a two-run shot that put the game out of reach for the Royals. If he can keep up the hot play, the White Sox will be in great shape.

The White Sox will now host the Minnesota Twins for a three-game weekend series. This is a big one as the White Sox have a chance to do some damage within the division. Hopefully, they can carry some momentum into it and have a good showing. Everyone will surely be scoreboard-watching in the meantime.
