The Chicago White Sox were just swept by the Cleveland Guardians. That should just about do it for their chances in the division as they are now 7.0 games back. It is nice that they are done with the Guardians but they were shown what a division-winning team looks like.

It is a shame that they had to have this happen one year after winning the division. Everyone thought coming into the year that this White Sox team would be elite but that has just not happened. They have been one of the most disappointing teams in the league.

Another team that has been disappointing this year is the Detroit Tigers. Many thought that they would be the ones that the White Sox have problems with this year but they have been far worse. They are also the only team in the division that the White Sox have a winning record against.

Now, the White Sox will play the for three this weekend. You never know what happens in the standings until the elimination number hits zero so they might as well try their best to dominate in this one.

The Chicago White Sox need a big performance from everyone this weekend.

In game one, Lucas Giolito will take the mound against Eduardo Rodriguez. These are both very good pitchers that are just having terrible seasons. The White Sox offense has a chance to put up some crooked numbers against a lefty again. Giolito has a lot of work to do if he wants to stay in a White Sox uniform.

Davis Martin is scheduled to start for the White Sox on Saturday and he will face Drew Hutchison. Honestly, this is a duel that could go either way. Martin has been up and down this season and deserves a lot of credit for how awesome he’s been. Can it continue?

On Sunday, Dylan Cease will try to wrap up his potential Cy Young season as he will face Tyler Alexander of the Tigers. Obviously, this is a matchup that features the White Sox. Cease comes in with a magnificent 2.13 ERA and hopes to lower it even more.

You can hope to see guys that have struggled this year have big series. Yoan Moncada and Yasmani Grandal certainly fit that bill amongst a few others. We can also hope to see guys like Eloy Jimenez, Andrew Vaughn, and Gavin Sheets stay hot with 2023 on their minds.

This isn’t going to be an easy series against a bad team. Detroit wants to make the White Sox look even worse than they already do so they will play hard. If the White Sox wants to finish strong as a whole, winning big in this series can help with that.
