The Chicago White Sox could possibly be looking for a closer this off-season.

One of the best trade assets on the Chicago White Sox right now is closer, Liam Hendriks. He has been magnificent for the Sox during his tenure with the team but they are going to be looking to make changes this winter. It might be a small chance that he goes but you just never know.

If they do move on from Liam but still believe that they are a winning team, they are going to want to replace him. Someone to consider is New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz. He is a free agent now that the Mets are done. He may or may not return but leaving New York is on the table.

You have probably seen Diaz and his entrance this season. The videos have all gone viral as the trumpets took the baseball world by storm. Adding someone like that to the White Sox would be very interesting.

Diaz isn’t better or worse than Hendriks but his status as an “elite closer” is certainly less lived than Liam’s. If the team could choose based on pure talent/stuff, they would keep Hendriks. However, the trade/free agent market might be the play.

We know how Mets owner Steve Cohen likes to spend money. He is going to do everything he can to bring most of these guys back and then some this offseason. They are going to be one of the most interesting teams to watch during the winter. Hopefully, the White Sox can take advantage.
