I started watching the Bears when Mike Ditka was still a player. Many years later I wrote a letter to the Bears organization listing many reasons why they should hire Mike Ditka as their head coach because their head coach at that time, Neil Armstrong, was incompetent as a head coach. I chose Ditka after using the profile Andrew McKenna used to hire Dallas Green as the Cubs manager. It was based on hiring someone who had as much experience as possible on championship teams. Years, later I used this same profile to identify Phil Jackson as the best choice to be the Bulls head coach. For over 10 years I have written and published blogs about the Bears and White Sox.
