Could any White Sox players bring home a Silver Slugger this season?

The White Sox run of 84 wins and a trip to the ALDS was fueled by an offense that led the American League in runs scored. With three position players named to the All-Star team, the White Sox should certainly have some players in the conversation for some hardware as the season comes to a close. Here are three White Sox players with at least an outside chance of taking home a Silver Slugger award in 2026.

Chase Meidroth- The Favorite

Chase Meidroth has already been nominated for one award this season, becoming a finalist for the Gold Glove after his stellar season both at the plate and in the field. Looking at the numbers, he should be able to add Silver Slugger to that list. Second Base isn’t a strong position overall in the American League, and Meidroth led all players at the position with 4.1 fWAR. Yankees slugger Jazz Chisholm is the most household name among AL second basemen, but Chisholm was behind Meidroth in nearly every offensive category with the exception of home runs.

Perhaps Meidroth’s biggest competition is Luke Keaschall of the Twins. Keaschall finished ahead of Meidroth in average and OBP, but Meidroth had more home runs and RBIs and a higher slugging percentage. In addition, Keaschall played 49 of his games this season in the outfield, so he may qualify for the utilityman position rather than at second base. It would be quite controversial to see anyone other than Meidroth take home this award based on the numbers.

Miguel Vargas- The Runner Up

While the lines are a bit blurred at second base in the AL, third base is quite a bit more straightforward. It’s essentially been a two-man race all year to lead the AL in most offensive categories. White Sox breakout star Miguel Vargas finished second behind Rays star Junior Caminero in most of them, and I expect Silver Slugger to be no different. While Vargas and Camineo finished with the same fWAR total, Caminero had a leg up in just about every offensive category, including batting average, hits, home runs, RBI, and slugging. If there’s an argument to be made for Vargas, it’s his 101 walks and .363 on-base percentage, which exceeded Caminero despite the latter hitting 26 points higher. Vargas also led the White Sox with 22 stolen bases, while Caminero stole just three. I don’t expect Miguel Vargas to win the award, but he should no doubt be a finalist and may receive some votes. We’ll find out on November 2nd when the finalists are announced.

Tristan Peters- The Longshot

Despite an All-Star appearance in his rookie year and finishing among the leaders in many statistical categories for AL center fielders, Tristan Peters is unlikely to be in consideration for a Silver Slugger. Unlike the other positions, the awards are given to three outfielders regardless of specific position, so it could be three left fielders if they have the best numbers on offense. While players like Aaron Judge, Randy Arozarena, Riley Greene, and Wilyer Abreu don’t play center, they have better offensive numbers than Peters basically across the board and are much more likely to be chosen. Peters wasn’t a finalist for a Gold Glove despite a stellar season defensively and likely won’t be rewarded for his offensive output either. Perhaps a step forward in 2027 could put him firmly in this conversation, but for now, it’s unlikely.
