In a typical White Sox season, the end of the regular season would’ve indicated the start of the offseason and a shifting of the focus to the year ahead. But 2026 hasn’t been a typical White Sox season. The White Sox are still playing baseball in October as they continue their remarkable Postseason run, and as a result, some of the normal developments have slid under the radar. The Arizona Fall League quietly kicked off their season over the weekend, and the White Sox sent several prospects for extra work. Here is an update on the action of the first weekend:

IF Caleb Bonemer

The most exciting name headed to Arizona for the White Sox was second-ranked prospect Caleb Bonemer. Bonemer opened eyes with his elite power hitting this season, and his trip to Arizona is primarily to get him comfortable playing the outfield. With a surplus of infield talent on the big league roster and Bonemer’s bat forcing his call-up sooner rather than later, the team is looking for a way to ensure he’ll receive at bats. His focus has been on center field, where he’s played in each of his first two AFL games. Bonemer’s bat doesn’t look like it’s missed a beat since the season ended either. Through two games, Bonemer is 4-for-9 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs. He’s walked once and struck out twice. It’s good to see Bonemer hitting, but the main thing for fans to watch out for this fall season is his comfortability in the outfield. That will likely be the largest factor in determining the timeline for his inevitable call-up to the big leagues.

RHP Pierce George

In a bit more concerning news, righty reliever Pierce George’s stint in the Arizona Fall League could be over as quickly as it started. The flamethrower entered the game on Sunday, but threw just one pitch before signaling for the trainers and ultimately leaving the game. No update on his status has been provided, but I can’t imagine the White Sox will push anything at this stage of the season. It’s fair to assume he’ll be shut down. George put himself on the bullpen radar this season with his triple-digit fastball. He posted a 3.56 ERA between four levels this season, finishing the season with a two-inning appearance in Triple-A. If healthy, the 23-year-old could open 2027 in Charlotte and make his big league debut sometime during the season, but that health is now very much in question. Stay tuned for further updates.

Other contributors: INF Colby Shelton, RHP Garrett Wright

Of the nine players the White Sox sent to Arizona, only two others have made their AFL debut at this point. Infielder Colby Shelton has played in three games, going 3-for-9 with an RBI and a run scored. The versatile infielder is looking to get more reps after a solid offensive season. On the pitching side, right-hander Garrett Wright threw 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing one hit and one walk with three strikeouts. Wright, 24, was a 20th round pick of the White Sox back in 2023 and put together his first full professional season in 2026. He held a 4.20 ERA over 41 appearances, reaching the Double-A level to finish the season. Wright does not rank in the White Sox top 30 prospects, but is another player to watch as he reaches the upper levels of the minor leagues in 2027.

Infielder Anthony DePino and righty Matthias Lacombe are among the other White Sox players who have reported to Arizona but have yet to appear in a game. Their debuts are likely imminent, so White Sox fans can have something to watch during the off-days of the Postseason.
