About

Welcome to Southside Showdown, home for all things White Sox.

Site Editor: Matt Adams

Matt Adams is a White Sox fan to the degree that few can understand.  Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, his parents made the correct choice in making sure that his first live baseball experience took place at Comiskey Park. These days you can typically find him at U.S. Cellular Field, and if you buy him a beer, he’ll buy you one back.  When not writing, watching or talking baseball, what he’s doing is anybody’s guess.

You can email Matt at [email protected] and follow him on Twitter at @2012WhiteSox.

Staff Writer: Ross Read

Ross Read is a veteran blog writer. He joined Southside Showdown in December of 2011. Ross is currently a Sports Journalism student at Columbia College Chicago. Upon completion he hopes to have a career writing about all things between the lines in the sports world. He is willing to have a beer with anybody and talk about how Frank Thomas is the greatest hitter over the last 30 years and Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl is the greatest video game character of all-time.

Staff Writer: James Fegan
Since a lazy day in March of 2010 fueled by hospital-strength Tylenol, I’ve been writing about the White Sox on the internet. By “writing about”, I mean that I’ve been centering impromptu statistical analysis projects, snarky mockery of news copy, and sleepless nights around the general topic of White Sox baseball. In said time, I’ve put on about 10 pounds, developed a caffeine addiction, and become an expert on Alex Rios’ emotions. It’s been great. My full-time blog is White Sox Observer, but this place here is cool too.

Staff Writer: Ryan Ganser
A diehard White Sox fan from the South Side of Chicago. Ryan is a pre-law undergraduate student at Illinois State University with a huge passion for the game of baseball. He has been a White Sox fan his entire life, frequenting U.S Cellular field as many times as he can during the season. As someone who lives and dies with the White Sox and enjoys writing, it is only an inevitability that he would spend his time writing about the team he loves.

Staff Writer: Jason Lukehart
Jason has been a huge baseball fan since he got his first mitt at the age of five. Like any good blogger, his earliest writing came from inside his parents’ basement, where at the age of seven he put together newspaper articles covering the games he played with his vast collection of baseball cards. He loves going to games, at Comiskey or any other park he finds himself near, and can often be found staying up way later than he ought to, watching a late game end on the west coast. When not covering the White Sox, Jason writes about other aspects of baseball at “Ground-Ball With Eyes.” You can follow Jason on Twitter at @Lukehart80.

Staff Writer: Anders Johanson

Anders Johanson had been writing about the White Sox for a few years before joining Southside Showdown in September of 2011. He’s currently a Sophomore studying Communications and hopes to pursue a sports radio career. He’s been spotted late at night sitting at the kitchen table eating cereal and playing Strat-o-Matic baseball. Other than that he is quite elusive.

You can email Anders at [email protected] and follow him on Twitter at @ChiSoxBoy.
