Game Preview: White Sox try to avoid sweep by Angels

They’ve lost the first two games of this weekend series, so the Chicago White Sox need to win on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

For the White Sox they are sending Jose Quintana to pitch against the Angels as he is 3-5 overall with a 3.31 ERA.

Opposing Quintana for the Angels will be C.J. Wilson. Wilson this season is 6-5 overall with a 3.52 ERA.

Wilson is 1-2 in his past three starts with a 4.86 ERA and 12 strikeouts. In his career vs. the White Sox (42.0 innings) he’s 3-3 with a 3.00 ERA, along with tallying 29 strikeouts.

In five career at-bats vs. Wilson, Tyler Flowers is batting .400. No White Sox batter has a home run vs. Wilson the past five years.

Quintana has a 2.33 ERA has pst three starts with a 1-2 record (and 14 strikeouts) to show for those numbers. For his career against the Angels (17.2 innings) he’s 0-2 with a 3.57 ERA with 12 strikeouts.

David Freese is batting .667 against Quintana in just three at-bats, while Howie Kendrick has a .375 batting average with two RBIs in eight at-bats.
