All weekend long, there was a lot of speculation on whether the Chicago White Sox were going to trade for Oakland Athletics right-handed starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija, but as of Monday morning, he’s still with the A’s.

With that said, we know if the White Sox want a RHP in the starting rotation like Samardzija, they are going to have to part ways with some of their top prospects, but how many remains the question.

Here is what we posted Sunday on the Samardzija situation and the possibility of trading No. 2 prospect Tim Anderson.

As of this posting, the White Sox, Atlanta Braves and even the Boston Red Sox have been linked to being interested and making calls on Samardzija, and all we can really do is wait and see what occurs.

• In news involving a former White Sox, Sunday was the 52nd birthday of Bo Jackson. Jackson played for the White Sox in 1991 and 1993 in a total of 108 games, according to the good folks at baseball-reference.com.

Jackson batted .231 with the White Sox, with a .298 on-base percentage and .480 slugging percentage following a hip replacement from an NFL injury. With all of that said, Happy Belated Birthday, Bo!

The following is a tweet from @CPHSox with a scouting report from 1985 about Jackson:

• Also over this past weekend, ESPN Chicago wrote about Ronald Belisario officially parting ways with the South Side, opting to become a free agent.

"“Rather than accept an outright assignment to the minor leagues, Belisario invoked his right to head into free agency.”"
