It was fun to see members of the Chicago White Sox from the 2005 World Series champion team look back and celebrate their accomplishment of being the champions of baseball 10 years ago.

I wasn’t in attendance, but it was enjoyable to see all the fans tweet pictures of their time at SoxFest this past weekend, where the White Sox began what will be just the first of a few celebrations for that group of individuals.
In a White Sox article on their official web site, ’05 GM Ken Williams was quoted at Sox Fest by saying the following about the ’05 team:

"“Well, here’s what I say. If there’s a better team performance in the playoffs, the baseball playoffs, I’m not aware of it.”"

I may be bias, but I’m going to agree with Williams. Just how the ’05 team beat the Boston Red Sox in the ALDS, then the Los Angeles Angels in the ALCS, followed by sweeping the Houston Astros in the World Series … it has to be a top playoff performance.

The pitching in all of those series is still exciting to watch to this day.

I do feel it does get overlooked in the grand scheme of baseball lore to a certain degree when World Series time arrives each year.

That’s OK though … the ’05 team was OUR team, and we all know just how good they were not just that postseason, but the entire season. That is a season none of us will ever forget.
