The White Sox were able to sign its top draft pick Zack Collins on Friday, and the catcher will report to Glendale, Arizona on July 2 according to csnchicago.com. While the White Sox are eagerly awaiting Collins to get his professional career started, other draft picks for the White Sox have already started to contribute.

The team’s second pick in the MLB draft and 26th overall in Zack Burdi already made his professional debut on June 22 for the White Sox Arizona League affiliate. The former Louisville Cardinal threw a scoreless inning in relief. Burdi pitched for Class A Advanced Winston-Salem Dash on June 24, and threw another inning in relief, but he gave up three hits and one run to the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

Matt Cassidy of futuresox.com was present to see Burdi’s debut with the Dash, and he stated the powerful right-handed pitcher touched 102 miles per hour on his fastball. Burdi will still have work to do as the Blue Rocks were able to get three hits off him, mainly on his changeup which was recorded at 90 mph.

Another recent draft pick that is already contributing for the White Sox is the team’s third round pick, Alex Call. Call, from Ball State University is currently playing for Class A Short Season Great Falls Voyagers. In 10 games for Great Falls, Call is hitting .359 with six runs batted in and five walks. The White Sox fourth round pick, Jameson Fisher is hitting .355 through nine games with four stolen bases and eight walks for Great Falls. Fisher was drafted out of Southeastern Louisiana University.

While some of the White Sox recent draft picks are starting to contribute early, the team’s top draft pick from 2015 pitched his best game as a starter this season on Sunday. Carson Fulmer pitched seven shutout innings for Class AA Birmingham Barons. Fulmer walked just two Mobile BayBears batters and notched seven strikeouts. This was Fulmer’s longest outing of the season, and he was able to lower his ERA to 5.28 for the season after Birmingham’s 10-0 rout over Mobile on Sunday.
