White Sox: Carson Fulmer Pitches 2 Scoreless Innings In Spring Training Debut
White Sox fifth ranked prospect pitches two scoreless innings in Spring Training opener against Dodgers. The 2015 first round pick started the game.
The Chicago White Sox began their 2017 Spring Training with a 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch on Saturday in Glendale, Ariz. Despite the loss, the Sox received a solid outing from Carson Fulmer.
Fulmer, the Sox 2015 first round draft pick (8th overall) pitched two scoreless innings against the Dodgers on Saturday. The no. 5 ranked Sox prospect according to mlbpipeline.com picked up where he left off to end last season with another solid outing. Fulmer ended his 2016 season with three solid starts for Triple-A Charlotte Knights.

The former Vanderbilt Commodore pitched two scoreless innings and recorded three strikeouts to go along with one walk for the Sox on Saturday. Fulmer struggled in the first inning with 20 pitches, but was able to get out of a jam. With runners on first and second base and two outs, Fulmer was able to strike out Franklin Guiterrez to end the threat.
Fulmer exited the game after pitching two innings, and gave way to the Sox bullpen. Although the Sox had leads of 2-0 and 3-2 in this game, they were unable to hold onto both leads. The Sox bullpen gave up three runs after Fulmer’s departure, and the offense was unable to score another run after the third inning.

The Sox will face the Colorado Rockies on Sunday in their second game of Spring Training. With Fulmer’s impressive outing on Saturday, the young pitcher should be able to carry that momentum into his next appearance this spring for the Sox.
