White Sox second ranked prospect gets first win of the season on the road. The right-handed pitcher posted a quality start for Charlotte.

Chicago White Sox second ranked prospect Lucas Giolito finally recorded his first victory of the season on Saturday for Triple-A Charlotte. Giolito helped the Knights defeat the Louisville Bats 4-2 on the road.

The 22-year-old starter posted his first quality start of the season as he pitched six innings while allowing just two earned runs. Giolito recorded four strikeouts and allowed only one walk against the Bats on Saturday. With the win, Giolito improved his record to 1-5 and lowered his ERA to 6.55.

More from White Sox Prospects

Giolito was struggling to start the 2017 campaign and his start on Saturday was much needed for the former top prospect. While the Knights have had other pitchers post quality starts this season, it was nice for Giolito to finally have a solid outing for Charlotte.

While the Knights recorded a road win on Saturday, the Birmingham Barons and Winston-Salem Dash couldn’t post victories away from home. The Kannapolis Intimidators however were able to get a win on the road on Saturday.

The Barons were defeated by the Chattanooga Lookouts 9-6 on Saturday. Birmingham recorded 11 hits against the Lookouts, but a five-run eighth inning from Chattonooga ultimately doomed the Barons. Jake Peter, Mason Robbins, Trey Michalczewski each had two hits for the Barons, while Cleuluis Rondon had three hits.

Winston-Salem was defeated by the Carolina Mudcats 4-3 on Saturday. Despite scoring two runs in the ninth inning against Carolina, the Dash were unable to take the lead and lost its 24th game of the season. The Kannapolis Intimidators however, were able to record a road win as they defeated the Rome Braves 11-2.
