Charlotte Knights extend winning streak to five games with win on Monday. Winston-Salem walks off to snap four game losing streak.

The Chicago White Sox Triple-A affiliate Charlotte Knights have been playing good baseball recently. The Knights were able to extend its winning streak to five games with a 6-4 victory over the Durham Bulls on Monday.

Charlotte has moved to two games over .500 with a 19-17 record after its five game winning streak. The Knights were swept on the road by the Indianapolis Indians early last week and haven’t lost a game since May 10. On Monday, the Knights jumped to a quick 3-1 lead after the first inning thanks to a home run from Nicky Delmonico and a sacrifice fly from Rymer Liriano.

The Knights were able to hold off the Bulls as Zack Burdi recorded his fifth save of the season. Durham threatened to take the lead in the ninth inning as they had runners on first and second base, and the go-ahead run at the plate. Burdi was able to induce a pop fly to end the game for the Knights and seal the victory.

Yoan Moncada was 1-for-4 with a strikeout and 2 RBI’s on Monday. Jacob May, Adam Engel and Roberto Pena each recorded two hits for the Knights.

While Charlotte extended its winning streak on Monday, the Birmingham Barons lost its sixth consecutive game. The Barons were shutout by the Chattanooga Lookouts in a 6-0 loss on the road. Birmingham is 12-26 on the season.

The Winston-Salem Dash were able to snap its four game losing streak with a walk-off win against the Lynchburg Hillcats. The Dash won its contest 3-2 with a walk-off single from Ronald Bueno. The Hillcats couldn’t catch Bueno’s fly ball which allowed Danny Mendick to score the winning run. Zack Collins went 1-for-3 for the Dash with a walk.
