Veteran infielder hits walk-off home run for Triple-A Charlotte on Memorial Day. White Sox top prospect records multi-hit game for Single-A Winston-Salem.

After being optioned to Triple-A Charlotte by the Chicago White Sox, Cody Asche has had a stellar start with the Knights. Asche on Monday helped the Knights win on Memorial Day with a pinch-hit walk-off three-run home run against the Buffalo Bisons.

The home run helped the Knights defeat Buffalo 9-7 at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. With the home run, Asche is now batting .393 with three home runs and nine RBIs through nine games with the Knights. Although Asche is having a nice start with Charlotte, Sox fans shouldn’t expect him to get called-up very soon. Asche struggled in his brief time with the Sox this season as he hit just .105 with one home run.

Asche wasn’t the only Knights player that went deep for Charlotte on Monday as Nicky Delmonico also hit a home run. Delmonico went 1-for-5 for the Knights with a solo home run. Yoan Moncada who was playing in his fourth consecutive game after returning from a thumb injury went 1-for-4 with a RBI single and a walk.

While Charlotte won its contest on Memorial Day, Double-A Birmingham and Class A Kannapolis were idle. Kannapolis had its contest on Monday postponed while Birmingham had Memorial Day off. The Barons will start a five-game series at home on Tuesday against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
