White Sox finish another road trip under .500 as they go 2-7 in nine games away from home. The South Siders own the worst record in the American League.

The Chicago White Sox finished its nine-game road trip on Sunday with another series loss to the Cleveland Indians. With the loss, the Sox concluded their nine-game road trip with a 2-7 record and have lost nine of their last 11 games overall.

Although this is considered as a rebuilding season for the Sox, they have been struggling to win games recently. With a lack of depth in the starting rotation due to injuries, the Sox have relied heavily on their bullpen over the past month. Jose Quintana had another short outing on Sunday as he lasted just five innings against the Indians.

Throughout their previous series with Cleveland, the Sox didn’t have a single starting pitcher last more than five innings. This has been reoccurring theme for the Sox lately, as Quintana and the rest of the starting rotation has struggled to go deep into games consistently.

The Sox have also struggled offensively and on the basepaths recently. On Saturday, the Sox ran into five outs on the bases. However, they would win their contest against the Indians despite the baserunning blunders. This would be the only win of the series for the Sox. The South Siders haven’t won a series since taking three out of four games from the Detroit Tigers at the end of May.

The Sox will begin a brief four game homestand with a series against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. With a 26-35 record and sitting in last place in the American League Central division, the Sox will look to erase their recent struggles with a series victory. The Sox currently have the worst record in the AL and are very well on their way to a top 10 draft pick in 2018.

This season hasn’t been ideal to watch for many Sox fans, but rebuilding isn’t easy. With a plethora of top prospects having success in the minors for the Sox, the future is bright for this organization. However, there will be some growing pains for the Sox while they wait on promoting some of their top prospects. There’s beauty in the struggle, just have to be patient as the Sox still have things to work on before being contenders again.
