Jose Quintana cruised after a five-hour rain delay. The White Sox offense came alive in a 9-0 win over the Twins.

Jose Quintana had another solid start on Thursday. The left hander didn’t allow a run in 6.2 innings  pitched and the Chicago White Sox cruised to an easy 9-0 win over Minnesota. Quintana was able to make the start, despite a near five-hour rain delay. Todd Frazier and Jose Abreu each hit a two-run home run in the first against Nik Turley. Turley couldn’t make it out of the first and left the Twins a 5-0 hole.

Matt Davidson continued his hot streak, hitting his team leading 17th home run. The 26-year-old has really come on this season and taken everyone by surprise. The biggest story of the night was Quintana however. The left hander looked like his old self. Now, the White Sox hope he can continue the momentum.

Quintana hasn’t been the recipient of much run support. So it was refreshing to see the White Sox get off to such a great start. The offense quickly jumped out and gave him the lead. That makes it easier for him to come out and just pitch. That can go a long way to helping him regain some of the confidence he may have lost with the tough start.

It only takes one. And this start could potentially turn his fortunes around. This would be huge for the team, as they really don’t have an ace right now. Quintana was supposed to be their ace, but he hasn’t performed like one. If that changes, this team could potentially make a run. And that could help his trade value.

The season is still kind of young. There is plenty of baseball left to be played. The White Sox can definitely take a lot of positives from this game. The biggest being the play of Quintana. Either he is going to be an important part of this team moving forward or he is going to get them a good return on a trade. However, none of that matters if he’s not performing up to expectations. Hopefully this start will give him some momentum that he can ride the remainder of the season.
