White Sox 11th ranked prospect Dane Dunning has spectacular start for Single-A Advanced Winston-Salem, but is saddled with loss.

Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Dane Dunning had a solid outing on Wednesday for Single-A Advanced Winston-Salem. However, despite his strong start, Dunning would be saddled with his fourth loss of the season as the Dash were defeated 2-0 by the Down East Wood Ducks.

Dunning pitched seven innings while giving up no earned runs and recording eight strikeouts. The Dash couldn’t score for Dunning as he fell victim to poor defense from Winston-Salem. The only two runs to score for the Wood Ducks came via a throwing error made by third baseman Brady Conlan in the third inning.

Despite recording his fourth loss of the season with Winston-Salem, Dunning has continued to improve while pitching for the Dash. The 2016 first round pick has pitched three consecutive quality starts, and he lowered his ERA on the season to 2.81 with his scoreless outing on Wednesday.

While Dunning had an impressive outing on Wednesday, another Sox pitching prospect might have had an even better start. Jordan Guerrero pitched eight strong innings for Double-A Birmingham in a win over the Biloxi Shuckers. Guerrero recorded six strikeouts and gave up one earned run for the Barons. The 2012 fifth round draft pick hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in his last six starts for Birmingham.
