White Sox MiLB Report: 3 Prospects to Participate in Futures Game
White Sox send three prospects to XM Sirius Futures Game, including top prospect. Two prospects will play on Team USA, one prospect for Team World.
The Chicago White Sox will send three prospects to Miami to participate in the Sirius XM Futures Game on July 9. Yoan Moncada, Zack Collins and Michael Kopech will represent the Sox at the Futures Game.
Moncada participated in the Futures Game in 2016 in San Diego and put on a showcase. Last year, Moncada went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs for Team World and was named Futures Game MVP. Moncada was a member of the Red Sox in last year’s Futures Game, and he showed why he was one of the top prospects in baseball.

With Moncada returning for another Futures Game this year in Miami, he has the chance to showcase his abilities again on a big stage. Moncada was also named to the Triple-A All-Star game on Thursday. The Triple-A All-Star Game will take place on July 12. This season Moncada is hitting .281/.381/.454 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs for Triple-A Charlotte.
Kopech, who was slated to pitch in the Double-A All-Star Game on June 20 before it was canceled, and will participate in the Futures Game for Team USA. Kopech has had a solid season for the Birmingham Barons. This season, Kopech is 4-5 with 3.72 ERA. He has recorded 97 strikeouts while allowing 49 walks.

Lastly, Collins will get his first chance at participating in the Futures Game as he will also play for Team USA. Collins, the Sox 2016 first round pick has been struggling at the plate but he leads the Carolina League in walks at 56 and he’s tied for ninth with 10 home runs. Despite his .206 batting average, Collins has a .362 on-base percentage and .399 slugging percentage.
