White Sox MiLB Report: Winston-Salem Gets No-Hit, Fulmer Struggles
White Sox affiliates have tough Saturday as Winston-Salem is no-hit, Charlotte gets routed, Birmingham loses in 21 innings and Kannapolis is shutout.
While White Sox fans are struggling watching their team continue to lose during its rebuild, the team’s affiliates didn’t have a good Saturday. The Winston-Salem Dash of Single-A Advanced were no-hit by the Lynchburg Hillcats in a 3-0 loss.
Shao-Ching Chiang, a pitching prospect for the Cleveland Indians pitched a no-hitter against the Dash on Saturday. Chiang recorded seven strikeouts while allowing just one walk against Winston-Salem. The Dash were no match for Chiang as Eloy Jimenez went 0-for-3 with one strikeout, and Zack Collins was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

The Dash weren’t the only White Sox affiliate to struggle on Saturday. The Charlotte Knights of Triple-A were routed 8-1 by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Carson Fulmer gave up six earned runs in six innings pitched while recording six strikeouts. The loss for Fulmer was his seventh of the season and he saw his ERA climb to 5.71. He also gave up two home runs in his start on Saturday.
Although the Kannapolis Intimidators recorded six hits in their game on Saturday against the Lexington Legends, they were shutout in a 2-0 loss. Jake Burger went 1-for-3 with a walk. Blake Rutherford and Gavin Sheets were both 1-for-4 at the plate respectively. Despite recording seven strikeouts, Dylan Cease was saddled with his third loss. Cease pitched five innings while giving up two earned runs on three hits and allowing three walks.

The only Sox affliates to win on Saturday were Great Falls of the Rookie League and the DSL White Sox of the Dominican Summer League. Craig Dedelow, the Sox 9th round pick of this year’s draft led Great Falls with three hits in a 9-3 win over the Billins Mustangs. Anderson Comas had three hits for the DSL White Sox in a 7-6 win over the DSL Giants.
