Jim Callis told Carmen and Jurko he feels the White Sox have the best farm system in baseball.

Jim Callis of MLB.com joined Carmen and Jurko on Monday. As expected, much of the conversation was about the Chicago White Sox farm system and where it ranks in baseball. Callis told the duo he feels the White Sox have the best farm system in baseball. MLBPipeline will be putting out its rankings within the coming days but the organization has Callis’ vote for best farm system.

Yoan Moncada is by far the best prospect in the system. He is up at the majors and still getting comfortable but we have seen flashes of brilliance. Callis also mentioned Michael Kopech as a top pitching prospect in baseball. It’s clear this team has a ton of talent. But it won’t mean anything unless it all pans out.

More from White Sox News

It’s tough to say when this team will be competitive. Most analysts are pointing to 2019 or 2020. That’s when we should see the results. It’s too early to tell how it looks but this team should be in good shape for the future. They have a good mix of pitching and hitting in their system.

The team could also be looking at a top three pick in next year’s draft. That would allow them to add yet another prospect, who could also be top 100.

I wouldn’t expect the team to be very good next year either. Meaning it could again add a top pick for the 2019 MLB draft. Stranger things have happened but right now they are on pace for a top pick for the 2018 draft.
