White Sox second ranked prospect has another multi-hit game for Winston-Salem, hits 14th home run of season.
Chicago White Sox second ranked prospect Eloy Jimenez continues to dominate Single-A Advanced pitching as he extended his hitting streak to seven games on Tuesday. Jimenez went 3-for-5 with a double and a home run for Winston-Salem in an 8-7 loss to the Frederick Keys.
The 20-year-old outfielder was acquired from the Cubs as part of a return for starting pitcher Jose Quintana. Since joining the Sox organization, Jimenez is hitting .369/.430/.714 with six home runs, 20 RBIs and an 1.144 OPS. The Sox could certainly promote Jimenez to Double-A before the season is over.

With Jimenez displaying power early into his career with the Sox, the future bodes well not only for the organization but for the right-handed hitter as well. As the Sox are rebuilding, they don’t have to rush Jimenez to the majors but he could force his way onto the team sooner than expected. According to mlbpipeline.com, his ETA to the majors is 2019 but if Jimenez excels in Double-A and Triple-A early next year, he could be a part of the Sox after the All-Star break.
For Single-A Kannapolis on Tuesday, seven players recorded hits but none had more than one hit as the Intimidators fell to the Greenville Drive 5-3. Blake Rutherford, Jake Burger, Micker Adolfo and Gavin Sheets all recorded hits, but couldn’t help the Intimidators offense score more than three runs. After a modest five game winning streak, Kannapolis has lost six consecutive games.
