White Sox third ranked prospect records another scoreless outing, double digit strikeouts for Double-A Birmingham.

Chicago White Sox third ranked prospect Michael Kopech has been on a hot streak recently and he continued his dominance of Double-A on Saturday. Kopech recorded another scoreless outing for the Birmingham Barons in the team’s 1-0 loss against the Chattanooga Lookouts.

The 21-year-old pitched seven scoreless innings while recording 10 strikeouts. Kopech allowed just three hits and two walks against the Lookouts. This was Kopech’s sixth consecutive quality start and his third straight outing of seven innings. In his last six starts, Kopech hasn’t allowed more than one earned run and two walks. Saturday was also the second consecutive scoreless outing for Kopech.

More from White Sox Prospects

Kopech has recorded eight or more strikeouts in five of his last six starts and has lowered his ERA to 2.83 for this season. With Kopech pitching a professional career-high 126.1 innings, he’s gaining more experience as a starting pitcher. Kopech could finish this season with Triple-A Charlotte, or he could complete his 2017 campaign with Birmingham. The most important thing for Kopech is his continued development as there won’t be any rush to promote him to the majors.

While Kopech dominated on the mound for Birmingham on Saturday, the White Sox second ranked prospect Eloy Jimenez extended his hitting streak with another monster game for Single-A Advanced Winston-Salem. Jimenez, who has been on fire recently for the Dash, went 3-for-5 with two home runs in Winston-Salem’s 12-7 win over the Lynchburg Hillcats.

Jimenez is hitting an astonishing .380/.446/.750 with eight home runs and an 1.196 OPS since joining the Dash. Currently Jimenez has an 11-game hitting streak for Winston-Salem with four home runs hit during this span. The 20-year-old outfielder appears to be on track for a promotion soon to Birmingham as he continues to dominate Single-A Advanced pitching.
