White Sox: Tyler Danish set to start Spring Training opener
White Sox start Spring Training action against Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch on Friday. Former prospect will start the opener for the team.
The Chicago White Sox will begin Cactus League play this Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz. With the start of Spring Training approaching, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see live baseball from the Sox.
Starting for the Sox on Friday will be Tyler Danish. The 2013 second round draft pick of the Sox has had brief appearances in the majors over the last two seasons. In 2017, Danish had a solid spot start for the Sox against the Detroit Tigers. In that start, his first in the majors, Danish pitched five shutout innings, while allowing only three hits but walked six batters.
Update-Dylan Covey will instead start for Sox on Friday as announced by the team on Wednesday.

Friday’s start for Danish in the Sox Spring Training opener should give him another opportunity to prove his worth to the organization. Although he had just one major league appearance last year, he can still work his way onto the team as a reliever for this upcoming season. Danish made 25 starts for Triple-A Charlotte in 2017 but had a 4-14 record with a 5.47 ERA.
According to James Fegan of The Athletic, Danish was ecstatic of getting the news that he was starting in the Sox Spring Training opener this Friday. Danish mentioned to Fegan that the offseason was scary but he tries to make the best of every day as he can. If judging by his tweet on Tuesday, Danish appears to be fired up about his start.

The Sox Spring Training opener will be at 2:05 PM CST and can be seen online on whitesox.com or MLB.TV. It will also be broadcast on the radio on WGN-AM 720. For fans that want to see Spring Training games on local television, you will have to wait until Feb. 27 when the Sox face the Cubs on WGN in Mesa, Ariz.
