White Sox affiliate Winston-Salem Dash off to a strong start as they’ve won five consecutive games after beginning season at 1-3.
Chicago White Sox Single-A Advanced affiliate Winston-Salem won their fifth consecutive game on Friday. The Dash defeated the Carolina Mudcats 8-1 behind strong performances from Dylan Cease, Gavin Sheets and Micker Adolfo.
The Dash currently sit in first place in the Carolina Southern League division after a 1-3 start. On Friday, Cease pitched six strong innings for Winston-Salem. After a 4.2 inning start in his first outing of the season, Cease rebounded with a solid start on Friday for the Dash. Dease recorded six strikeouts on Friday while allowing just two hits and two walks.

Adolfo, who is playing as a designated hitter due to injury, had another strong game for the Dash on Friday. The Sox 10th ranked prospect went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Winston-Salem. Adolfo is currently hitting .389 to start this season and currently has a modest five-game hitting streak. In that span, Adolfo has recorded two hits in four of his last five games for the Dash.
Sheets also had a multi-hit game for the Dash on Friday. The 2017 second-round draft pick went 2-for-4 with an RBI double. Sheets is currently hitting .367 with five doubles to start this season. Along with Sheets, Luis Alexander Basabe also had a good performance for Winston-Salem. Basabe had three hits with two RBIs in the Dash’s win on Friday and is hitting .400 through the team’s first nine games.

The Charlotte Knights of Triple-A and the Birmingham Barons of Double-A each won their respective contests on Friday. Single-A Kannapolis Intimidators didn’t win on Friday however. Each of the White Sox affiliates are .500 or better to start the 2018 season.
