White Sox top pitching prospect has a quality start in win with Triple-A Charlotte over the Indianapolis Indians on Memorial Day.
Chicago White Sox top pitching prospect Michael Kopech was able to get back on track with a quality start on Monday. The 22-year-old right-hander helped the Charlotte Knights to a victory over the Indianapolis Indians on Memorial Day.
Kopech pitched six innings for the Knights in a 7-5 victory over Indianapolis. The ninth-ranked overall prospect recorded seven strikeouts while allowing just two earned runs and two walks. This coming after a five-inning performance for Kopech in his previous start on May 23 against the Norfolk Tide.

With the quality start on Monday, Kopech was able to lower his ERA to 3.86 on the season through 10 starts. Kopech hasn’t had a good month of May overall, but it was nice for him to end the month with a strong outing. Through six starts this month, Kopech only lasted more than six innings in three outings.
With the Sox maintaining their stance on not rushing prospects, Kopech still has time to post more strong outings over his next starts before the All-Star break. The Sox aren’t going to panic and rush Kopech up to the Majors anytime soon. If he can continue pitching deep into ballgames for Charlotte, he should find himself in the Sox rotation by the end of July.
