White Sox MiLB Report: Michael Kopech Records 11 Strikeouts
White Sox top pitching prospect has a strong start for Triple-A Charlotte in the team’s extra-inning win over the Durham Bulls on Saturday.
Chicago White Sox top pitching prospect Michael Kopech had a stellar start on Saturday on the road against the Durham Bulls. In the Charlotte Knights 3-1 win over the Bulls in 10 innings, Kopech recorded 11 strikeouts.
The right-handed starter allowed just one earned run and one walk through six innings pitched in his start on Saturday. For Kopech, this was a better result than his previous outing on July 5 when lasted just three innings. Kopech has struggled with consistency recently and has only pitched six innings in five of his last 10 starts.

With his strong start on Saturday, Kopech was able to lower his ERA to 4.48. Through 18 starts this season, Kopech has a 3-7 record with 122 strikeouts and a 1.39 WHIP. There was hope from many Sox fans that Kopech would be promoted to the Majors by July, but he still has more work to do before he’s called up.
The Winston-Salem Dash of Single-A Advanced fell short to the Buies Creek Astros 4-3 on Saturday. However, despite the loss, Blake Rutherford had a good day at the plate for the Dash. Rutherford, the Sox seventh-ranked prospect went 3-for-3 with a walk and two triples.

Single-A Kannapolis picked up their 50th win of the season with a 10-7 victory over the Hagerstown Suns. Tate Blackman recorded four hits for the Intimidators while Tyler Frost and Carlos Perez both went 3-for-4 at the plate for Kannapolis. Double-A Birmingham defeated the Tennessee Smokies 3-0 behind a strong performance from Jimmy Lambert. The 2016 fifth-round draft pick had 10 strikeouts through seven innings pitched for the Barons.
