White Sox MiLB Report: Michael Kopech Posts Another Quality Start
White Sox top pitching prospect posts second quality start for Triple-A Charlotte in the team’s win over the Pawtucket Red Sox at home on Thursday evening.
Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Michael Kopech had another stellar outing for Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday night. Kopech posted his second consecutive quality start for the Knights in the team’s 4-3 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox.
The Sox top pitching prospect pitched six strong innings while recording nine strikeouts and allowing just one walk and one earned run. For Kopech, he was able to lower his season ERA to 4.29 with his solid outing and could be in line for a promotion in September if he continues to improve.

Kopech was struggling in the middle of June but has been able to put together some nice starts since the end of last month. The right-hander has posted four quality starts in his last five outings dating back to June 25. In his last two starts, Kopech has allowed just two walks and two earned runs.
In order for Kopech to be promoted to the Majors this season, he will need to limit his walks consistently moving forward. Although he has only allowed one walk in each of his last two starts, he has given up 35 walks in his last 10 starts overall. If he can continue limiting walks to the opposition, he will undoubtedly be promoted to the Sox when rosters expand in September.
Another Sox prospect that could be close to making his major league debut soon is Eloy Jimenez. The team’s top prospect collected two hits in the Knights win on Thursday. Jimenez has recorded a hit in each game since returning from injury on July 15. Through 17 games with Charlotte, Jimenez has a slash line of .297/.357/.484 with an OPS of .842. Jimenez could join the Sox when rosters expand or sooner.
