White Sox could promote a few prospects in the coming weeks if their progression continues at a good pace. Each prospect is currently playing well.

The Chicago White Sox are surprisingly at a good point in their rebuild. There are some injured prospects and major league players but there have also been a lot of positive developments within the organization.

From the major league team to the minors, 2019 has started well for the White Sox. Many naysayers might point to the White Sox current record and think otherwise, however. But that doesn’t matter right now. The important thing is that the Sox current rebuild is still on the right path towards sustained success in the future.

With the Sox farm system still going strong, there are a few prospects that could be well on their way to getting promoted. Each prospect won’t get promoted to the major league team, but instead, they could be looking at individual promotions to the next respective level. One prospect that comes to mind is Luis Robert.

More from White Sox Prospects

Ever since signing as an International Free Agent in 2017, Robert has struggled with various injuries that have stalled his progression through the minors. With the exception of missing some time earlier this season, injuries haven’t been much of an issue for the young outfielder. Robert has adjusted well to Double-A after a slow start and should be moved to Triple-A soon.

A promotion to Triple-A in the next month shouldn’t be viewed as the Sox rushing him. Robert has the tools to succeed in the majors and he could very well excel in Double-A throughout the month of June. He’s already hitting over .300 through 24 games with the Barons.

If he can continue to perform well with Birmingham and remain healthy, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be with the Charlotte Knights in July. Another prospect that could be promoted soon is Robert’s former teammate while with High-A Winston-Salem, Nick Madrigal.

Madrigal isn’t tearing up High-A pitching just yet, but he’s been on a hot streak as of late and that could continue going into June. In his last 10 games, Madrigal is hitting .317. There isn’t a pressing need for a second baseman in Chicago so Madrigal won’t be rushed through the minors. However, he should get his next test in Double-A by July.

The prospect that all Sox fans are currently waiting to be promoted however is Dylan Cease. Cease came over from the Chicago Cubs in a trade that involved Eloy Jimenez back in 2017. Since then, he’s been one of the better Sox pitching prospects. Currently, he’s also on a hot streak as he’s posted three consecutive quality starts for the Knights.

With a lack of depth in the starting rotation for the Sox, Cease would make a nice addition once promoted. He shouldn’t be rushed but he could certainly help a Sox team that is close to a winning record at the moment. If he continues to pitch deep into ballgames over his next few starts, expect Cease to be in a Sox uniform before the end of June.
