The Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners had a game suspended halfway through the third inning on Saturday afternoon. There was a lot of excitement as it was the first Saturday that the White Sox were welcoming fans back at 100 percent capacity but it was slowly turned off by the rain. It was 0-0 but it has not created a bit of a problem for both teams but it will hurt the Mariners just a bit more.

The Chicago White Sox needs to have a very good game against the Seattle Mariners.

You can argue that the Mariners are the hottest team in baseball right now. They have won 9 of their last 11 games to get themselves over .500 and look like a respectable baseball team. You don’t get to that level without some good pitching.

Now the Mariners have to deal with the troubles that come with a doubleheader but it hits just a bit differently for them. Obviously, Saturday’s starters in Lance Lynn and Logan Gilbert are not going to come out and pitch on Sunday. It will mostly be a bullpen game for both teams now.

The White Sox don’t have Michael Kopech to come in and take over the game but they have plenty of capable players to do so. If anything, they benefit by knowing that he isn’t available. They also know that Dallas Keuchel is going to start the second game which is where they have the advantage over the Mariners.

It was supposed to be Marco Gonzales on the mound for them on Sunday’s originally scheduled match. However, Gonzales has returned to Seattle for the birth of his child. He is going to hit Seattle’s paternity list. Of course, everyone has to be happy for him in this situation but they do need to handle their pitching over the next day.

The bullpen is already going to be spent after they finish the first game and it is going to be needed again in the second game without their scheduled starter. Hopefully, the White Sox offense is able to take advantage of this. They need to work counts and make things hard on the Mariners for two straight games.

They are going to pick up the first game where they left it off and play nine innings. The second game then is going to be a seven-inning contest. It is up to Dallas Keuchel to do his job as a starter. He is perfectly capable of helping the White Sox out of their rut. It is the type of game that should be pretty fun to watch.
