The Chicago White Sox played a fantastic game in the rain against the Minnesota Twins. Going into it, everyone was a little down because of the news on Yasmani Grandal. Zack Collins, his replacement as the new starting catcher, got things rolling with a 2 RBI hit. In the meantime, Jose Berrios and Carlos Rodon had a fantastic pitchers duel which led to an ugly White Sox win. However, the fun story after the game was the catch made by Billy Hamilton.

There is nothing elite about Hamilton’s bat but we all know how dangerous he is if he does get on base. Well, his play in the outfield is as good as anyone as well. There is a reason he was put out there late in the game to play the premier position of centerfield.

In the 9th inning with one out, he made what will go down as the catch of 2021. With rain falling hard from the sky, he got a jump on the ball, leaped in the air, caught the ball, and came down sliding like a slip-n-slide. It was a fantastic play by a very exciting player.

The Chicago White Sox saw Billy Hamilton make one of the greatest catches of the season.

The Chicago White Sox are lucky to have a weapon like Billy Hamilton on their team. He is becoming a legit fan favorite because of the way he plays the game but he truly helps them win games. A lot of people are talking about how this is one of the greatest catches of all time if you ignore the circumstances of some other candidates. To leap in the rain like that and come down sliding the way he did is incredibly hard to do.

You can tell that Liam Hendriks was even worried while the ball was in the air and he was stunned when Hamilton came down with it. It was just magnificent all around. When Billy Hamilton contributes to a big win, it always feels great as a fan.

It was a great part of a great game. Carlos Rodon will go into the All-Star Break as a candidate to be a starter in the midsummer classic and this game was an example of why. This bunch is incredibly resilient and both Rodon and Hamilton are a big reason why. It was so great to see them both be a big story in such an important win. Now, the White Sox have 50 wins as they look to take the rubber match against the Twins on Wednesday.
