Lucas Giolito is the ace of the Chicago White Sox right now. There were some other starters who might have had slightly better numbers but it became clear down the stretch that he is still that guy. He had another high finish in the Cy Young race as well so his skills are noted nationally as well.

He got off to a tough start in 2021 but he turned it on after a few starts. He has shown that he can be the ace of this staff for a few years now. The worry of him not following up well should be gone because he has been elite for three years now.

If coming in 11th place for the Cy Young is your version of a “down year”, you are one of the best. Expect Giolito to come into this season with hefty expectations on himself and his team. It is going to be a blast to watch.

He should be able to also take comfort that he isn’t the only dominant pitcher on the staff anymore either. He has plenty of help around him as the White Sox have put together a nice list of starters to work with. Expect Giolito to be the Opening Day starter whenever that game does come.
