Folks, after eight games in which the Chicago White Sox played futile baseball, the tables have turned and they managed to win a game.

Their 7-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals may not look that significant now but it’s likely a win in which the Sox rediscover their passion for winning games and may help light a fire under them to win more.

Who would have known that the heroes of the game for the Sox would be two young batters that have been making their mark on this team since the start of the season?

Well, thanks to the (now former) depth of the White Sox minor league system, as well as their ability to draft strongly, the White Sox have two guys that they can count on. These two have come up big before and they have done it again. They are Andrew Vaughn and Jake Burger.

Looking at Vaughn, we see that he had an amazing game. He was up to bat four times and succeeded in hitting the ball twice including an RBI double and three-run homer. His bat was hot and helped the White Sox earn a much-needed win.

Burger had a very good game and was a triple short of the cycle. He was up to bat four times and got a single, a double, and a home run which gave him his only RBI of the game. Like Vaughn, Burger had a hot bat and gave the White Sox some momentum.

The Chicago White Sox finally won a big game thanks to their two young bats.

Both players are no strangers to making their impacts felt in a big-league game. Vaughn seems to be a guy that comes through in the clutch. Burger’s power makes him a threat to hit a home run every time he steps up to the plate.

It’s possible that these two have provided the spark that the White Sox needed to get back on track and winning games. We shall see. But one thing can be counted on and that’s the fact that the Sox bats are slowly starting to wake up.

Imagine what will happen when the rest of the big bats on the roster start to wake up to their full potential. It is scary to think about as this team will be difficult to stop.

Let’s take a moment to savor the win and enjoy it. Yes, it’s one game out of 162 but this game takes a burden off the shoulders of the team and gets them thinking about winning again. Most importantly, it shows them that they can win.
