The Chicago White Sox have a decision to make with one of their catchers.

Before Yasmani Grandal came back from his injury, there was a big debate over who would be DFA’d out of Reese McGuire and Seby Zavala. Well, Luis Robert hit the injured list right when that happened and they both got to stay. Now, the White Sox have three catchers on their roster.

For the sake of argument, it would appear as if Zavala appears to be better for this team right now. He is hitting the ball much better and neither of them is an elite catcher. McGuire is better than Zavala in that way but the bat might overrule the glove.

When the roster is a bit healthier and perhaps after a bat is acquired at the deadline, one of the three catchers is going to have to go. It might not be fair but it is the way that it is at this point of the season. Regardless of what happens with these catchers, the White Sox need to do what is best for the team.

If this team is active enough to get these three off the roster, that means they took it seriously and will have a chance to win down the stretch. If not, it is going to be a grind to win what is the worst division in baseball. It would be nice to see them do what they can to put their best foot forward.
