The Chicago White Sox is a team looking to make the postseason for the third year in a row. They are going to need all hands on deck in order to get it done which made the Tim Anderson injury a tough blow. However, they are trying to combat that for the time being.

Leury Garcia also went down with an injury (he isn’t an adequate replacement anyway) and Lenyn Sosa or Romy Gonzalez aren’t the best answers. This team needed a spark to fill the very important shortstop position so they went out and made a move.

The trade deadline has come and gone so they couldn’t make a deal that way so they took advantage of a rebuilding team making a cut. The Oakland A’s released veteran shortstop Elvis Andrus and the White Sox came in and snagged him.

Andrus is a very nice shortstop that can be a short-term starter for this team. He isn’t the All-Star that he once was but he provides experience starting at the position more than the other options. He is going to join the White Sox for their series against the Cleveland Guardians.

The Chicago White Sox are bringing in Elvis Andrus to help them at shortstop.

This is great news for the team. He is going to provide great relief for them while Anderson is out because he has been there and done that. The A’s released him because of his contract and that they are tanking for a rebuild. That doesn’t mean that he won’t help the White Sox.

He isn’t going to come in and mash lots of home runs but he can provide a big hit every now and then. He has a WAR over one too which suggests that he is worthy of a Major League roster spot. It is going to be fun to see what he can do in a White Sox uniform.

When Anderson returns, there is a good chance that he is more worthy of a roster spot than someone else on the team that is currently there. There will also be expanded rosters by then so keeping him as a backup will be smart. Hopefully, this is a signing that works out.
