The Chicago White Sox lost again to the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday night and it wasn’t particularly close. Now, it is highly unlikely that they are going to win the division and be back in the playoffs.

Yoan Moncada hit a home run though. Congrats to the former number one prospect in all of baseball on hitting his 11th home run of the season. With that, the rest of his game (and season) was complete garbage.

He is known to be an elite third baseman because he is. However, he showed very little effort when things got to be tough for this White Sox team and that caused mistakes. He didn’t try to stop a pick-off attempt from Seby Zavala on Tuesday and that allowed an extra run to score.

The very next night, he had some poor communication with Andrew Vaughn on a pop fly and that allowed the ball to drop. Not to mention, he acted like he had all the time in the world on a routine ground ball and the runner was safe at first by a mile.

The Chicago White Sox should be very worried about Yoan Moncada’s future.

There is no doubt that Moncada is turning into a bust. He was magnificent in 2019, bad in 2020, decent in 2021, and now horrible in 2022. With all of the money that he makes, he better get it together.

If he is as bad in 2023 as he was in 2022, the White Sox should just cut bait with him all together. He has been atrocious and there are plenty of more players out there that will give a better effort than what he has displayed so far. He has to be better going forward or gone. There should be no in-between.

Moncada isn’t a bad dude. He is also a great baseball player that doesn’t use his tools to his advantage. He just kind of gets by and that is not helping this Chicago White Sox team take the next step. If he was 80 percent of what was expected of him, this team would be going to the playoffs.

The White Sox need to make a bold move this offseason so don’t be surprised if Moncada is a part of that bold move. He was terrible in 2022 and deserves to be criticized for it. He makes a lot of money and hasn’t lived up to anything.
