Who knows if the Chicago White Sox would have beaten the Cleveland Guardians had Mike Tauchman been able to score the tying run last night.
We do know the White Sox lost because of Tauchman suffering an injury trying to round third in his attempt to score.
Add player pulling a hammy to the list of ways the White Sox have lost games.
The Guardians broadcast described it as unusual way to win. Even Steven Kwan felt bad for throwing Tauchman out.
White Sox TV play-by-play announcer John Schriffen's "Oh No!" shout has become one of his trademark calls after using the phrase to react to Tauchman's injury and last season when Yoan Moncada, Luis Robert Jr., and Eloy Jimenez all pulled up lame with soft-tissue injuries.
The only difference is those three were either running to first or rounding first. They were not trying to complete a comeback against an All-Star closer.
That is why this one hurts a little bit, and in Tauchman's case, literally, as he is headed back to the 10-day IL

You can scrutinize if the White Sox should have brought Tauchman back so soon after he started the season on the 10-day IL with a strained hamstring.
At the same time, if the player says he is ready to go and makes the requisite rehab assignment, sometimes you've got to roll with the guy saying he is fine.
However, maybe pinch-running for Tauchman would have been a good idea. Although the Sox were running out of players as Korey Lee also left the game with an ankle injury. The Sox were already down Andrew Benintendi.
While a lot of losing was to be expected, the past three defeats have been tough to stomach.
The Sox bullpen blew a save on Sunday that gave off 2024 vibes. Mike Clevinger walked in the game-winning run on Tuesday.
Then the Sox had All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase on the ropes and failed to land the knockout blow all because Tauchman's hamstring acted up.
The belief was the Sox would win a few more games this season just because variance would work back in the team's favor.
Yet, this was the latest example of variance in the contextual sense, figuratively saying it still hates the White Sox.
