The Chicago White Sox have had Jose Abreu on their team for a long time now. Ever since he joined, he has been a constantly great player. In fact, he is going to go down as one of the best players in the history of the Chicago White Sox.

Abreu was good again in 2022 but he wasn't the same Jose Abreu that we are used to seeing. He didn't hit 30 home runs and have 100 RBIs which has become something he does in his sleep. It might be because of the team approach which speaks to an entirely different problem.

The reason that you can claim it was because of their approach is because of the fact that the entire team had down power numbers. Andrew Vaughn led the White Sox with 17 home runs which is not a lot for a team leader at all. There were teams way worse than the White Sox with a higher home run total.

Abreu did execute his role well though. If they were approaching the plate with more of a contact mentality, Abreu was the best on the team at it. In fact, Abreu led the White Sox with 183 hits. That was good enough for second in the American League and fourth in all of baseball.

Whatever it is that Abreu needs to do to help his team win, he is all about it. That has made him one of the great players and leaders of his generation. Every team in the league would love to have him and the White Sox have been blessed.

Final Grade: B+

Jose Abreu has been nothing short of amazing for the Chicago White Sox.

It is hard to give any offensive player on this team an A. It was a big reason that they didn't make the postseason. Even though the manager and the hitting coach might have had a lot to do with it, the players go out there and play the game. For that reason, Abreu gets a B+.

Now, Jose Abreu is a free agent. That is bad news for the White Sox as it seems more and more likely that he is going to be gone. They are going to say goodbye to one of their all-time great players unless they miraculously work out a deal. 2023 would be better with Abreu on the White Sox.

There is even a chance that he goes to the other side of town to play for the Chicago Cubs. That would be just devastating. No matter what though, it will be easy to continue rooting for Abreu no matter what happens. He is an amazing person that deserves nothing but the best in his future.
