The White Sox minor league system received a small boost on Sunday with the addition of Wilmette, Ill. native Charlie Tilson. Tilson, a graduate of New Trier high school was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals via trade in exchange for left-handed relief pitcher Zach Duke.

Tilson was the 12th ranked prospect in the Cardinals minor league system according to mlbpipeline.com. With the move to the White Sox, Tilson becomes the teams top ranked outfield prospect and their fifth-ranked prospect overall. The White Sox are currently suffering from a lack of outfield depth and the addition of Tilson should help the team’s cause. Tilson hit .282 in 100 games for Triple-A Memphis Redbirds this season.

More from White Sox Prospects

The White Sox promoted their 2016 10th round draft pick Zach Remillard to Single-A Full Season Kannapolis Intimidators on July 30. Remillard didn’t sign with the White Sox until June 16 as he was competing in the College World Series for eventual national champion Coastal Carolina University. Remillard appeared in 13 games for the Arizona White Sox and hit .310 with two home runs, three doubles and two triples before being promoted. In his first game with the Intimidators on July 30, Remillard went  0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Zack Collins, the White Sox first-round pick of the 2016 draft was placed on the 7-day disabled list with a concussion on July 25 by Single-A Winston-Salem Dash. Collins was hitting .294 with three home runs in nine games for the Dash before the concussion. Another White Sox 2016 first-round draft pick however is continuing to improve for Double-A Birmingham Barons.

Zack Burdi, has pitched three scoreless appearances since giving up two earned runs on July 20. The 26th overall pick in the 2016 draft has recorded eight strikeouts in his last three appearances for the Barons. During this stretch, Burdi has lowered his ERA with the Barons from 36.00 to 5.40, which is impressive as he began his career with Birmingham giving up four earned runs in his first appearance.

Tyler Danish, who appeared in three games for the White Sox this season had another quality start for Triple-A Charlotte Knights on July 29. Since being optioned to the Knights on June 9, Danish has made five starts. On July 29 against the Columbus Clippers, Danish pitched six innings for the Knights and gave up one earned run while recording four strikeouts. This was Danish’s second consecutive quality start as he pitched seven innings for the Knights on July 23, and gave up one earned run and recorded seven strikeouts.
