White Sox will look to turn their fortunes around against Houston. Derek Holland will face Dallas Keuchel.

The Chicago White Sox will welcome the Houston Astros for three games at Guaranteed Rate Field starting Tuesday night. And hopefully they can turn their fortunes around. It doesn’t get any easier after being swept in Boston with the American League West division leading Astros in town. Derek Holland will square off against Dallas Keuchel in the series opener.

This is definitely going to be a tough matchup for the White Sox. Keuchel is pitching very well this season and this team is in a major slump. They are on a six-game losing streak and need to turn it around. It’s not like they’re playing for anything but it would be nice to see them win some games. Especially since they’re on pace to lose more than 100 games.

It all starts with Holland. After signing him to a one-year contract in the offseason, he’s really not lived up to expectations. He is 5-11 with a 5.27 ERA. He is coming off a start where he allowed just two runs on four hits and pitched six innings on Aug. 5 against the Red Sox. If he can give that type of effort, the White Sox should have a fighting chance. However, he was 0-3 with a 9.38 ERA in the month of July. His ERA in June was 9.55. There’s definitely some improvement needed for Holland.

The offense is going to have to be ready for Keuchel. The lefty is having another strong season and will come right at hitters. They need to be ready to hit and take advantage if Keuchel makes a mistake. If not, then it’s going to be a long night. The Astros have 71 wins and are one of the best, if not the best team in the American League. If the White Sox want to win this contest on Tuesday and series, then they need to be on top of their game.
