White Sox MiLB Report: Eloy Jimenez Off to Hot Start in Birmingham
White Sox newly promoted prospects providing offensive spark for Double-A Birmingham. In two games, the Barons have scored 21 runs.
In his second game with Double-A Birmingham, Jimenez went 3-for-5 with two RBIs on Thursday in a 12-4 win for the Barons over Montgomery. In two games, Jimenez has gone 5-for-9 with three RBIs for Birmingham. The Barons offense has benefited from his arrival as they scored nine runs in their victory on Wednesday and 12 runs on Thursday.
Zack Collins, who was also promoted from Winston-Salem this week has been solid offensively in two games for Birmingham. Collins went 1-for-3 with two walks for the Barons on Thursday. He is 2-for-6 with a home run and three bases on balls in two games for Birmingham.

With Collins and Jimenez off to solid starts with the Barons, Sox tenth ranked prospect Dane Dunning had a less than stellar outing for Winston-Salem on Thursday. Dunning pitched five innings for the Dash, but gave up eight runs in a 13-6 loss to Myrtle Beach. Although he gave up eight runs to the Pelicans, only one run was earned. Dunning allowed two walks and five hits while recording four strikeouts.
The Kannapolis Intimidators of Single-A recorded a shutout 7-0 victory over the Lakewood BlueClaws on Thursday. Sox 2017 first round draft pick Jake Burger went 1-for-4 with a walk for Kannapolis. Luis Gonzalez, the Sox third round draft pick of this year went 2-for-5, while Gavin Sheets was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs.

Although Birmingham scored 12 runs on Thursday, they didn’t score the most runs out of the Sox affiliates. The Great Falls Voyagers of the Rookie League routed the Ogden Raptors 19-2 on the road. Max Dutto, the Sox ninth round draft pick from 2016 hit a grand slam in the third inning.
